New logo ushers new era for Chamber of Commerce
A revamped logo is just the beginning for the Oakey Chamber of Commerce, which has risen to the COVID-19 economic challenge by renewing partnerships with local community groups and businesses and working to instill a town-wide mindset of shopping locally.
A new logo and plan of attack for the coming year was unveiled to the community at an event held at the Australian Army Flying Museum last Thursday.
The new “sleek and modern” logo was created by Australian Army Aviation Training Centre Instructional Systems Designer Brigette Greenslade.
Oakey Chamber of Commerce president Rebecca Meacham said the group is grateful for the work of Ms Greenslade.
“We really appreciate the work she has done in pulling our branding together,” she said.
“We went to Brigette with zero ideas or concepts and said that we just wanted it to be sleek and modern and she came up with our new logo which we love.”
Mrs Meacham said the launch night was also about celebrating the importance of community and business collaboration.
She said the Chamber is working to create an environment where all facets of the township can come together to make positive change.
“For our local businesses and community to thrive we need to build that trust between community, business, government and industry,” she said.
“We need to drive coordination, cooperation and most importantly collaboration.
“Our mission is to be a mutually supportive organisation that unites business and community in the district to advance economic and social success into the 21st Century.”
Mrs Meacham said Chamber will be hosting a series of events in the next six months to foster this collaboration.
“These events will support growth in the Oakey district,” she said.
“We have a jam-packed six months ahead.”
The activities include hosting a community development workshop and business breakfasts as well as undertaking two major projects - ‘Why Leave Town’ program and the Oakey Uplift program.
Mrs Meacham said more information on these events and projects will be announced in coming months.
