New lanes for important intersection
The ongoing works at the busy intersection of the New England Highway with Gatton Clifton Road and Saal Road aims at improving safety by making dedicated lanes.

A Transport and Main Roads spokesperson said the project is being delivered under the Queensland Government’s Targeted Road Safety Program which funds cost-effective safety upgrades.
“The works involve widening the intersection to provide separated, right-turning lanes for vehicles turning into Gatton-Clifton Road and Saal Road,” the spokesperson said.
“The addition of the turning lanes will reduce the risk of rear-end crashes for right-turning vehicles.”
Although there were two lanes in each direction already, there had been a risk of rear-end crashes if vehicles travelling in the same direction were turning left and right at the same concurrently.
“The works are currently underway and scheduled to be completed in September 2022, weather permitting.
“We thank the community for its patience and understanding during the delivery of these important works.”
