New full-size sports court unveiled at Biddeston
Thanks to the hard-working and persistent fundraising efforts of the P&C Association and a sizable grant from the Toowoomba Regional Council, Biddeston State School students and the wider community now have a new full-size multi-purpose sports court to enjoy.
The almost $100,000 facility was officially opened at a Biddeston Bush Dance alongside the launch of a new school song created with the assistance of songwriter Josh Arnold.
Biddeston State School principal David Doogan thanked the P&C for its dedication to supporting the school and its students.
“This amazing court has been years in the making and has taken hours and hours of fundraising,” he said.
“I would particularly like to acknowledge our P&C, president Ian Speed and treasurer Mel (Patch) and all the other members who turn up to all of these fundraisers. Because without their efforts this would not be happening.”
P&C president Ian Speed said the multi-purpose court is the reward for years of fundraising.
He said the court costed a total of $96,000 with over half coming from the P&C and a further over $41,000 from a Toowoomba Regional Council grant.
“This generous contribution has enabled us build a full size court, which I am sure will provide endless opportunities for students and locals to play ballgames socially or competitively,” Mr Speed said.
He said money raised from the Bush Dance event will go towards taking all the Biddeston students on an all expenses paid trip to Australia zoo.
