Elder John Troutman presented the group with a piece of art created by Firebrace Wharton, while Jennifer Wharton told those assembled about the group’s achievements.

William Thira-Mayinj Haupt led the group in two of the dances they performed in Sydney, before inviting the junior dancers to join in.

Mura Biri Gururu’s first two dances, performed by the adults, were the Blue Crane (Puthuul) and Gidgee Tree (Muwurru Waan).

This was followed by a blessing of the dance ground (known as Yandhira Karrka).

Oakey’s young dancers of the next generation were then invited in to perform
the Mosquito (Wanga Purarn) dance, before finishing off with the Old People Stories dance (Kapal-Kapal Yaan).
