Mower grant much appreciated
A grant from Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) to assist with purchasing a Ferris Mower has been put to good use by Pittsworth & District Campdraft Association.

Secretary Deb Standing said the Association wished to thank the TRC Community Grants Program, for the grant.
“Our Association has been hit hard through drought, COVID and then the rains, impacting on our ability to hold Drafts – therefore fundraising cut drastically,” Ms Standing said.
“This Grant has taken pressure off our group with making this much needed purchase.
“So you can imagine just how grateful we were when the letter of acceptance was received.”
Ms Standing said the grant meant so much to the organisation, as being one of the main user groups of Pittsworth Showgrounds, it is responsible for assisting with the upkeep of the grounds, with mowing
being part of these responsibilities.
“Thanks to Mother Nature’s delivery of much needed rain, the grant money could not have arrived at a better time,” she said.
“What would have once taken our members many ‘man/woman hours’ and using a variety of mowers – push and ride-one – the work is now being handled with ease and efficiency.”
Nick-named "Fergus,” the mower has already notched over 50 hours – and this shows in the wonderful appearance of the local Showgrounds.
Ms Standing said many thanks must go to Association President Barry Standing who has been constantly mowing, whipper snipping and weed spraying to ensure the grounds are presented at their best.
“Our spray rig was also thanks to a grant through the TRC Program – we are truly fortunate to receive these grants, and sincerely thank our local Council for the initiatives that are out there for Non-profit groups.
“Everyone benefits who use these facilities and don’t the grounds look great coming into our town.
“The neighbours are also appreciative – many a cool drink or coffee has been delivered while mowing during these hot days,” she said.
