Mount Tyson first focus for Flood Recovery southern contractors
Contractors, broke ground in Mount Tyson this month to start their portion of the Flood Recovery works in the Region’s southern area.
Golding Contractors was appointed in July, alongside Georgiou Group in the north, to support Council’s own Construction and Maintenance Team, which has been delivering permanent Flood Recovery repairs since September 2022.
Infrastructure Services committee chair Cr Carol Taylor said: “It’s great to be making this announcement only weeks after contractors commenced in the north.
“Golding Contractors have been working closely with Council to align their early program to community priority roads across the Region’s south,” Cr Taylor said.
The permanent reconstruction works across the Region are expected to total more than $200 million with assistance provided through the jointly-funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
Delivery of the full 2022 Flood Recovery Program is expected by late 2024, weather permitting.
Council encourages residents and road users to continue to be vigilant around road works and changed road conditions, paying particular attention to the direction of traffic management personnel and signage.
