The Oakey Men’s Shed received a new Computer Numeric Controlled (CNC) machine with a grant from New Acland Coal.
The machine will be used to produce items such as signs, coasters, phone cases, and custom engraving.
The machine also comes with a laser that will allow members to burn images onto a multitude of materials.
Oakey Men’s Shed’s Stephen Clarke said the learning curve will be steep but not impossible for members and the machine will be up and running in no time.
Meanwhile Oakey TOMNET (The Older Men’s NETwork) received a defibrillator.
New Acland’s Community Information Office’s Melanie Williamson said the group was proud to support community groups such as TOMNET.
TOMNET’s Jerry Samuelsen thanked New Acland Coal for its support.
Mr Samuelsen said the defibrillator would be on-site during regular TOMNET meetings and will be taken to social events such as the bi-monthly Oakey Men’s Breakfast at Oakey Uniting Church Hall.
