Matthew Denny Welcome Home Event - TODAY!

Herbert Street is lined with Green and Gold as the town comes together to celebrate the home coming of Olympian Matthew Denny later today!

Here’s a run down of todays celebrations, where & how it’s happening:


2.00pm onwards

   • School students will begin to assemble along Warwick Street.

   • St Pat’s students along Warwick Street between Herbert and Raff Streets

   • Allora State School in front of their own school both sides of the street if possible. 

   • Grammar School will gather in front of Community Hall.


2.15pm  

   • Matt will make his way to the Servo (via the highway) and meet his driver, Uncle Bob Denny with Police Escort vehicle that will escort Matt’s car.

   • Town Crier, Bob Townshend to do pre-walk along Warwick and Herbert Streets to herald Matt’s arrival.


2.30pm exactly\t

• Vehicles leave the Servo and make their way at walking pace down Warwick Street then into Herbert taking approx. 15 minutes.  


2.45pm (approx.)\t

• Matt will alight for a short time at the Allora Regional Sports Museum where he will be greeted by Event MC, Marco Gliori and Museum Curator, Perry Cronin.

\t• Mayor will present Matt with a certificate of recognition on behalf of the community. 


3.10pm

• Matt will make his way to the Allora Sports Club where he will be available for signings and to mingle and share stories with the community.


3.00pm onwards\t

• Sports Club will open the bar and put on a BBQ which will be available for purchase. Starting with a sausage sizzle and then doing burgers and bar later into the afternoon/evening.

\t• At approximately 5.30-6.00pm Matt will address the crowd and cut a celebratory cake.
