Making work safer for local paramedics
Clifton Ambulance Station has taken delivery of a new Raizer Chair, designed to make life easier for local paramedics and their patients.

The chair enables heavier patients to be lifted from ground level with ease.
Officer-in-Charge, Chris Fulton, said the chair proved its value on the day it arrived, with paramedics using it to lift a local patient.
It cost $5,650 and was bought with funds raised by the Clifton Local Ambulance Committee (LAC).
Members of the LAC were able to see a demonstration of the chair at the annual general meeting of the committee.
The acting Manager, Workforce Planning for the Darling Downs and South West Region of Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS), Jamie Taylor, who was at the meeting, said the Raizer Chair will limit potentially career-ending injuries to staff.
Mr Taylor updated LAC members on QAS activity, pointing out that the workload across the region has increased.
He spoke highly of the work of the local paramedic team and thanked members of the LAC for their support.
Delivering the annual President’s Report, Anne Glasheen said the LAC is about to start fundraising for another Raizer Chair.
Mrs Glasheen said the committee is also working towards the provision of several defibrillator units for the community before the end of the year.
The Automated External Defibrillators (AED) will be placed in locations that are readily accessible to the general public.
The AEDs are easy to use and are designed to revive a person who suffers sudden cardiac arrest.
Mrs Glasheen added her thanks to those of Mr Taylor.
“I would like to thank Chris and all our local paramedics who have been attached to our station this year for they all go above and beyond for our community,” she said.
“Feedback from the community is always very positive.”
