Making it easier to save lives
The first of many automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to be put in place around the district was installed at Clifton Foodworks last Friday.
Clifton Ambulance Officer-In-Charge Chris Nixon, Tanya from Foodworks, Local Ambulance Committee members Anne Pedersen and Anne Glasheen.
One does not need medical training to use the AED, as it provides verbal step-by-step prompts.
Other AEDs will be located at the Clifton Post Office, Pilton Hall, Nobby Store, in Leyburn and in Allora.
The purchase of the AED at Foodworks has been made possible through a contribution from Clifton Meals on Wheels, which also funded the Nobby AED.
Cefn, Clifton Landcare and the Crows Nest Local Ambulance Committee have helped to fund the other AEDs.
The AED was installed with the help of Eric Woodrow from Woodrow Contracting.
Although the AED is easy to get to, it has been positioned so that it will be hard to steal.
It is alarmed and GPS tracked and there are security cameras positioned to watch over it.
