Making a splash: Oakey High Swimming Carnival
On a sweltering Friday afternoon, staff and students from Oakey State High School hit the bitumen to trek to the Oakey Town Pool where several records were under threat.

Oakey State High School celebrated its swimming carnival Friday 3rd February at Oakey Swimming Pool.
Three houses competed for the prize of house champion - Teevan, Achilles and Herring.
For the first time, attendance was made optional for the competitive swimming events, with only swimmers who wished to compete showing up.
The remaining students remained at school, turning up for a recreational swim in the afternoon.
This benefitted both interested and non-interested parties, with the students attending all having a great time, notwithstanding some hot weather.
The pool provided welcome relief for students watching with several choosing to take the plunge simply to cool off.
PE teachers timing the event were in good spirits, with some good banter on display with students.
At day’s end, Teevan was proclaimed Champion on 616 points, ahead of Achillies (603) and Herring (503).
