The competition is hosted by the Australian Lot Feeders’ Association (ALFA) and the winner will be announced at ALFA’s BeefEx 2024 Conference in Brisbane on 15-17 October.

The other finalist is Gundamain Pastoral’s Gundamain Feedlot, based at Eugowra, in New South Wales.

Macquarie Downs won Australian Feedlot of the Year ten years ago in the less than 3,000 head category.

The feedlot boasts the worldwide exportation of ‘Macquarie Wagyu’, particularly to Japan, and every aspect of the breeding and feeding of its Wagyu cattle is managed carefully by the owners and managers of Macquarie Downs.

ALFA President, Barb Madden said ALFA commends the incredible work these feedlots have done to become finalists, and for the efforts they make in continually meeting and exceeding the scheme’s requirements.
