The Jondaryan produced Stockyard Black produced has been named Australia’s best steak in the Royal Queensland Food and Wine Show (RQFWS) Awards held at the Brisbane Showgrounds on Friday.

Stockyard Black also won gold in the Wagyu Class AUS-MEAT Marble Score 7+ as well as the Open Class.
Mort & Co, which has the Grassdale feedlot near St. Ruth, won the Champion MSA Graded Branded Beef of the Show with its product Grandchester.
Mort & Co also took home a gold in the King Street Grain Fed class as well as a silver and bronze in other classes.
Beef City owner, JBS Australia, won a silver for its JBS Yardstick product and bronze for JBS Queenslander.
Chief Judge of the Branded Beef and Lamb Competition Elaine Millar said the overall quality of the beef and lamb entries was exceptional this year.
“Due to the extraordinary marbling in both the beef and lamb entries, the uncooked visual judging was overwhelmingly the best we have ever experienced,” she said.
“Unlike any other year, there was extreme diversity in visual, flavour, texture and juiciness which provides a wonderful opportunity for retail, food service and ultimately the end diner to experience the multiplicity of taste sensations the seasons, regions and breeds bring to our plate.”
