Latest Community Chest awarded to Oakey Urban Landcare Group
This month’s Bernborough Tavern Community Chest was awarded to Oakey Urban Landcare Group.

Community Chest organiser John Webster said a total of $1425 was raised in last month’s Community Chest raffles.
Oakey Urban Landcare President Trevor Cockburn said the money will be going towards maintenance at the property.
“It’ll be going towards mowing, weeding and the koala habitat,” he said.
“It’s all about maintaining what we’ve got.
“We’ll do further planting later in the season, if weather permits.”
Oakey Urban Landcare has had a firm focus on native plant growth and preservation over the years.
A major aim of the group is to help preserve the small koala population in Oakey and surrounds.
The group held a native photo exhibit display at its building on Oakey-Kelvinhaugh Road during last year’s Carnival of Flowers Festival.
It also held displays at the 2023 Oakey Show and at the Oakey Historical Museum in November.
It has hosted Oakey State High School students completing practice for volunteering certificates.
