Lane Passmore and his winning cow
Lane Passmore is a year three student at Back Plains State School.

Lane is a responsible, kind and respectful student, who recently participated in a cow show.
The cow show was called the Hereford Camp Show in Millmerran.
Once the Hereford Camp Show had finished he had won five ribbons and $25.
To prepare for showing the cows, Lane has to wash, blow, brush, spray and take care of the cows.
He has been showing cows for four years now and normally shows Herefords and a cow called ‘Simmtail’.
Lane said, “You have to put in 100 per cent effort and focus entirely on the cows and nothing else.”
When he is showing the cows, Lane has to watch and listen to the judge, focus on the cow’s legs in case they are putting them wrong and make sure he is scratching the cow properly with the cane.
The ribbons Lane got at the Hereford Camp Show were two Grand Champion ribbons, one first place ribbon, one third place ribbon and a Champion Senior Heifer ribbon.
His favourite ribbon he was awarded was the Grand Champion ribbon because it is the highest award you can get.
Lane and the school are very proud of his efforts and Lane will be continuing to show cows for a long time to come.
