Knitting For A Good Cause
Helen Jackson the Lifestyle officer at the Allora Nursing Home in Darling Street started a knitting club once a week for residents to make simple squares to be made into a blanket.

Residents Dot and Jo from the Allora Nursing Home have spent every spare moment knitting enough squares to make into a cosy blanket for someone who desperately needs extra warmth this winter.
It was decided that the finished blanket should be donated to someone in need.
That’s where Helen’s two main knitters Dot and Jo started madly click clacking away and produced enough squares to finish the blanket.
It was sewed together and delivered to Lifeline in Warwick with strict instructions that it had to be gifted, not sold to a needy person.
Lifeline was very grateful and assured Helen that her wishes would be followed.
Also in the gift was a beanie made by another resident who had previously made a number of beanies which were sent to Brisbane’s homeless.
