KidsGames thrill

The popular school holiday program KidsGames returned to the Pittsworth Uniting Church last week, engaging children from Prep to Grade 6 with Bible-based sports, activities and games.

Thirty-five leaders and junior leaders, including 7 from YWAM made the KidsGames program possible.
Thirty-five leaders and junior leaders, including 7 from YWAM made the KidsGames program possible.

This was the 10th year the three-day KidsGames program has been held in Pittsworth and it was one to remember.

A total of 67 children registered for the event, under the guidance of 23 leaders and 12 junior leaders.

Seven of the leaders were from Youth With A Mission (YWAM).

YWAM is a global interdenominational mission organisation, full of young people, driven by a passion to know God and make Him known to others.

The YWAM leaders travelled from Brisbane and were billeted by two local families at Norwin across the three days.

KidsGames organiser Karen Pomerenke said they wouldn’t be able to host the program without the volunteers from YWAM, and appreciate their commitment to the program each year.

The children learned about the Ancient Egyptians and the pyramids, which was brought to life by Janice and Fred Reed, who had constructed a giant pyramid made of styrofoam that the children could crawl through.

Points accumulated over the three day period, which saw the Grade 5 and Grade 6 team, Blue Bible Berries, score the most points, closely followed by the Prep and Year 1 team of Redbacks.

At the closing ceremony on Thursday, all of the children received a medal for their participation.

The ceremony ended with the KidsGames theme song.
