Junior tennis finishes for 2023
It was break-up day at junior tennis coaching last Tuesday, with more than 20 youngsters on the town courts.

Despite the hot afternoon, the players joined some fun games before adjourning to the clubhouse apron for drinks, chips and ice blocks.
Club president Bruce Von Hoff also presented high schooler Thrishia Dugyon with the annual Neil Boyes Encouragement Award, which has not been presented since Covid 19 threw its spanner in the works.
Neil Boyes was Pittsworth Tennis Club president for nine years from 1986 to 1994, leading the club through a very active era in terms of player participation, tournaments and coaching.
Mr Boyes was passionate about involving young players in the sport and the family has donated the Encouragement Award and shield in his memory.
Since the retirement of long serving coach Ruth Von Pein, Bruce and Ros Von Hoff have continued to offer junior coaching on Tuesday afternoons between April and November.
This year, the couple conducted a weekly beginners class for more than a dozen children straight after school, followed
by more advanced lessons and games for a similar number of older returning players.
Mr Von Hoff has been club president since 2003.
