Joseph just finished Year 5 at St. Francis de Sales School and received the Glasheen Family Sportsman of the Year trophy, which he was not able to receive on the awards night due to him competing in Sydney.

He competed at the School Sport Australia Track & Field Championship on Thursday and Friday 28 and 29 November, which took place at the Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre.

His Queensland team won silver in the combined 4x100m relay and he finished 5th in the individual 200m class multi race.

Joseph’s mother Mellisa
Nolan thanked St. Francis de Sales School and its community for its fundraising efforts on behalf of Joseph.

She said close to $1,000 was raised through selling snow cones one day a week at the school, with the funds paying for uniforms and a levy fee at the national championships.

As well as track and field, Joseph has competed in swimming and cross country, representing the Darling Downs in state competition.

With the 2032 Olympics  and Paralympics in Brisbane less than eight years away, perhaps Joseph Ramsey is a name we should keep an eye on under the bright lights of the international stage.
