Jockey Club lends a helping hand
As the result of a very busy and successful race day, the Clifton Jockey Club was proud to present the proceeds from its Wheelbarrow Raffle to the Clifton Community Hospital.
A cheque for $2,245 was presented to Clifton Community Health Services General Manager Brad Jones.
Mr Jones said on behalf of the organisation he was very appreciative of the donation.
He said he thinks the donation will go towards a hoist for the nursing home or a gas stove for the kitchen.
The Jockey Club donates its raffle proceeds to a worthy cause each year, and the last donation made in 2019 went to the Stanthorpe Fires Relief Fund.
The Club also donates annually to several other local groups and not-for-profit organisations, namely the Clifton Lions, Progress Association, and the Boys Scouts.
Club Members recently agreed to extend their helping hand by donating to Can Do Cottage, a respite accommodation for carers and families.
In the pipeline to add to the list of donations is Momentum Mental Health in Toowoomba and Warwick, a not-for-profit organisation which offers a range of mental health services for anyone and all ages.
Club Treasurer Pauline Wilkinson said the Club recognises that without the support each year from its valued sponsors and the tireless efforts of a band of loyal and hard working Volunteers (a.k.a. Dad’s Army!), Clifton’s social event of the year would not be possible.
She also said new members are always welcome.
