Hundreds flock Back to the Woolshed at Jondaryan

Hot weather didn’t prevent over 1000 people travelling to Jondaryan for the second ‘Back to the Woolshed’ event over the Australia Day weekend, the second to be held since Covid.

The event saw the launch of the Hugh Tindall Display, put together by Woolshed Museum curator Kim Neill.

The exhibit displayed shearing equipment, from the early Australian period through to modern times.

“Considering the weather conditions, which were tough, we were pleased with the turnout,” Friends of the Woolshed President Shelley Burns said.

“We had over 30 market stalls.

“A big thank you to all the volunteers.”

The day featured now familiar sights at the Woolshed including Toowoomba Live Steamers, Steaming on the Downs, Pioneer Park Machinery, Woodcutter and Beekeepers.

Toowoomba Region Mayor Geoff McDonald attended the event with his wife Lisa and praised the efforts of volunteers.

“Hats off to the Friends of Jondaryan Woolshed for pulling off such a fantastic even,” the Mayor said.

“The grounds were in fantastic shape.”

Shelley Burns said it was great to see attractions such as the Craft Cottage open.

“For the first time in eight years, we had the dairy up and running with two cows being milked,” she said.

“It was great to see the wagon out for the first time in a little while, it was extremely popular.”

The next event at the Woolshed will be the History Weekend on the 24th and 25th of February.

This will be followed by the Easter camping weekend, to be held from the 29th March to 1st April.
