Hundreds attend ‘Christmas in Pittsworth’
Despite being postponed after a downpour on Tuesday last week, hundreds turned out for Pittsworth District Alliance’s (PDA) ‘Christmas in Pittsworth’ at the Showgrounds on Thursday, 12th December.
President of the PDA, Rhonda Ashton, said the committee received a lot of positive comments about the fun evening and already promised that next year’s event will be even bigger and better.
Eight hundred arm bands were sold for unlimited access to rides, 200 more than what was sold at last year’s event.
The Land Train was a very popular ride, especially for the young children and families.
The PDA has thanked the community groups, volunteers, ride operators, entertainers and Sparky’s Fireworks for a spectacular evening.
The committee expressed appreciation to the Toowoomba Regional Council and Community Event Support Grant, as well as their major sponsors Pittsworth IGA, Tuana Park Estate, Gardens of the Downs, Pittsworth Fleet Maintenance, Pittsworth Hotel Motel, Lilly Pilly Boutique and Sparky’s Fireworks.
Neville Cherry Pest Control sponsored the arrival of Santa and his elf, and the face painting.
The craft tent from Raff Farm Supplies was enjoyed by many children with some guidance from Kim Marsden and the Life Support Youth leaders.
Next year, the PDA is considering sourcing more local food vendors to expand on the meal options for families.
The Pittsworth Dollar Card raffle winners were Mike Power ($300), Mary Hughs ($200) and Margaret Quintal ($100).
Three lucky lads, Leo Zahnow, Benji Petersen and Jaxon Smith were the winners of the Santa and His Friends competition.
PDA partners for the event were McKinlay’s Earthmoving, Cains Pharmacy, Qld Cotton, Annie’s House, Pittsworth Sprints, Ashton’s Butchery, Pittsworth Show Society, Millmerran Auto Club and McLean Farms.
See you all there again next year!
