How’s the fishing around Clifton?
The Clifton Courier has got its hands on a document that lists five fishing reserves surrounding Clifton where no fishing permits are required.

In the document, Golden Perch/yellowbelly, Murray cod, Jewfish/catfish, black bream and silver perch are listed as fish that can be found.
Worms, crayfish and willow grub are recommended bait and it is advised to you use lures and spinners.
At all five locations, there are no toilet block facilities.
Wet weather can impede access to some of the fishing reserves.
A survey from 2010 showed 12 per cent of Darling Downs residents aged five years and above went fishing in the previous twelve months.
The same survey showed fishing in public lakes/dams and estuaries were the most popular bodies of water and that fishing was most popular to do in January, followed by April and February.
Across the Downs, yellowfin bream and yellowbelly perch are the most commonly caught fish.
