A house in Hume Street has been reduced to ashes after catching fire on Thursday at about 10:20pm.

Four Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) crews attended the blaze at 90 Hume Street.

A QFES spokesperson said when their crews arrived on scene, the dwelling on the 1414 sqm allotment was fully engulfed.

When the initial call to emergency services was made, the occupants of the house had evacuated and were accounted for.

Firefighters focused on shielding the exposure of neighbouring structures, and by 11:10pm the fire was extinguished.

Crews remained on scene, dampening down until well past midnight, and again on Friday morning at 2:30am, to ensure the blaze didn’t reignite.

The separate double bay garage at the back of the block was untouched.

The fire is currently being investigated to ascertain what may have been the source of ignition.
