Continuing at the helm as President is Kath Brown, who presented a report, shown below, for the past year.

President’s Report for Clifton Historical Society 2023/2024

At the start of the year, we were running without a President.

This makes life interesting.

In November we had several groups visit us, they were the Clifton Senior Citizens, Warwick Blue Care, Endeavour and Car Club.

In March we had a change of Committee, Russel Hagan was able to take on the role of Treasurer and I was able to take on President after resigning from Treasurer.

We were fortunate to be given a Newspaper Wrapping Machine from Clifton Newsagency.

We have the video to show how that works which is able to be played in the Printing room.

The men repaired the Corn Sheller so it is now back in service.

Ozcare Group visited in May and also came back at the start of November.

It’s very encouraging when we receive repeat visits.

Purchase of four new monitors has enabled us to have some interactive displays. The old movies always get a laugh.

We were approached to help out with the Timeline of Clifton, to go on the wall in the corridor between Nirvana and the Hospital section.

Barrie Jones spent quite a lot of time on the project, with help from Pat Tickner and others.

Toowoomba Regional Council Grant which is our insurance of $1745.24.

There were lots of small donations of $336.00, by people at the Markets and visitors to the Museum.

The Ute and Boot Markets are still a way of making a small profit for the Museum.

A big thank you to all those that help with this.

I’m sure the community would miss us if we weren’t there.

Let’s face it they wouldn’t get their sausages.

John Watkins the Bush Poet came again this year. Another enjoyable afternoon.

We were approached by the Clifton Courier with the prospect of taking possession of the Historic Printing Machines left in the Courier Office.

Trying to work out how to successfully move the printing machines from the Clifton Courier building to the Museum, unfortunately we haven’t been able to achieve this very challenging pursuit, but maybe a repair to the printer that we already have.

A big thank you to those that tried to make it work.

Letter Drop asking for volunteers - Thank you to those members that made this happen and Barrie Jones’s creative skills.

Unfortunately, this has only brought two people so far to inquire how they could help.

Hopefully this will bring more in at a later date.

Linda Nicholas stepped back into the role of Publicity Officer, as Jo Bailey wasn’t able to continue. Thank you, Linda.

We participated in the Treasure Trail for Country Week, Pat Tickner makes use of her skills to occupy the children for the morning.

The volunteers that come in on the days we are open, and offer their skills to make sure our visitors enjoy their time with us.

The volunteers that do the day-to-day work to keep the Museum running whether it is admin or the practical day to day repairs and planning.

Those that also do work at their homes.

On behalf of the Museum, thank you.

Looking forward to the coming year

Kath Brown, President
