High School among budget winners
Clifton State High School has secured $871,000 in 2021/22 out of a $4.2 million total for upgrades from the 2021/22 Queensland State Budget, joining other organisations, initiatives and projects to receive funding, including the Toowoomba to Warwick Pipeline, Toowoomba Hospital, upgrades to the Eight Mile Intersection and Toowoomba TAFE.
The funding for the school will be used to upgrade skills development and training facilities and to upgrade the existing hall facility.
This includes upgrades to the Multi-Purpose Centre and Agriculture and Equine Centre at the school.
Equine Studies is a subject available at the school, providing students with skills to work in a variety of horse-related industries, from farming to racing.
The upgrades to Clifton State High School are part of a $67.7 million total investment by the Queensland Government to upgrade schools on the Darling Downs.
It is also part of an election commitment by Labor to spend $1 billion over four years in boosting school infrastructure and $45 million to upgrade and build industry linked training facilities and trade training centres at schools.
In surrounding areas, Warwick State High School received $280,000 in 2021/22 out of a $5.8 million total spend to deliver a new hall facility and Wilsonton State High School received
$15 million in 2021-22 out of a $16.5 million total spend to construct a new building for additional learning spaces.
Across the board, the 2021-22 Queensland State Budget has an expected deficit of $3.485 billion.
TOOWOOMBA TO WARWICK PIPELINE
Seqwater has been allocated $8.1 million for the Toowoomba to Warwick pipeline.
The funding will go towards the initial stages of the project.
TOOWOOMBA HOSPITAL
The Toowoomba Hospital site will see $4.9 million in 2021-22 out of a $14 million total spend for construction projects to improve facilities.
It will include electrical infrastructure upgrades of essential power integration.
Overall, Darling Downs and South West Hospital and Health Services has been allocated $1.1 billion.
EIGHT MILE INTERSECTION
The ongoing work on the Eight Mile Intersection of the New England and Cunningham Highways between Allora and Warwick will see $15 million spent in 2021-22, out of a $25 million total.
This project is jointly funded by the Australian Government.
TOOWOOMBA TAFE
In 2021-22, $925,000 of a $1 million total spend has been allocated for Stage 2 of Toowoomba TAFE’s new Rural Centre of Excellence.
