‘Help us find a doctor’
The local medical practice is appealing to Clifton residents to help them find its next doctor.
“We know Clifton is a great place to live,” Clifton Community Health Services Chair Andrew Douglas said.
“We want to convince a new doctor that it is also a great place to work.
“We exist by and for the Clifton community and now we need the members of our community to help spread the word.”
The medical practice currently employs two doctors but it needs at least another two general practitioners to meet patient needs in the medical practice and adjacent nursing home and hospital.
Clifton Community Health Services has been advertising the job vacancy nation-wide and through medical industry channels, but so far to no avail.
The search has now been intensified and expanded to include international job sites.
“We are determined to do everything possible to find a new doctor for our community,” Mr Douglas said.
“While we are pursuing a range of formal recruitment channels, it is just as likely that a successful result will come via a word-of-mouth referral.
“That is why we are keen to have as many people as possible talking to their contacts about the great opportunities we have on offer here. The more people we have talking about it and asking around, the more likely we are to fill the vacancies.”
Mr Douglas said many small towns like us across Australia are in the same situation and trying to fill doctor positions amidst a national doctor shortage.
“We will not be deterred because we know there are doctors out there who will appreciate our community and the opportunity to live and work here,” he said.
“We have an outstanding medical practice, an enviable relaxed lifestyle, a friendly town, beautiful parks and reserves close by, and easy access to larger shopping hubs and airports.
“Not only is there is a lot to love about our town and region, but we are also offering an attractive remuneration package and rewarding professional opportunities.
“If we all work together and spread the word, we are confident we will find a doctor who wants to be a part of it.”
