Hayden Waddell wins Oakey JRL’s Referee of the Year
Junior Referee Hayden Waddell received top honours for Oakey, and the Toowoomba Junior Referee Encouragement Award.
On Saturday 30th September the Toowoomba Rugby League Referees Association (TRLRA) held its annual Awards Night at Club Toowoomba, attended by over 100 guests.
Hayden Waddell, captain of the Oakey Junior Rugby League Club (OJRLC), received one of the two trophies awarded by the TRLRA for the Junior Referee Encouragement Award.
Hayden also was awarded a TRLRA special edition cap in recognition of his two appointments on the Toowoomba Junior Rugby League Grand Final day, as touch Judge for the Under 15 girls and Under 15 boys games.
The Oakey referees were acknowledged and the following trophies were awarded for OJRL:
Referee of the Year – Hayden Waddell
International Laws Referee of the Year – Joseph Gill
Junior Laws Referee of the Year – Ethan Altadonna
Referee Encouragement Award – Braith Altadonna
The OJRLC committee told the Oakey Champion that the club was very proud of all of its match officials and would like to thank them for a great 2023 season.
