Greenmount Waste Facility upgrade

The much anticipated upgrade of the Greenmount Waste Facility will become a reality during the coming financial year.

The current Waste Management site at Greenmount will take on a greatly improved appearance after Toowoomba Regional Council invests $3 million during the 2022-23 financial year to redevelop the facility into a state- of-the-art centre for handling refuse.

Toowoomba Regional Council has allocated funding for the upgrade in its 2022-23 Budget, details of which were adopted at a Special Meeting of Council on Monday.

The Budget sets aside $3 million for the project.

It is proposed to develop a waste facility similar to that created by the Council at Kleinton, north of Toowoomba.

It will allow for a much smoother and tidier operation of the Greenmount site.

Plans for this type of waste facility are based on the much larger Greater Toowoomba Waste Management Facility at Charlton.

The development of the Greenmount site will give residents across the southern sector of the Toowoomba Region access to a more modern system of handling the area’s waste.

The project is part of Toowoomba Regional Council’s $159 million capital expenditure programme for the coming year.
