Oakmore Park’s Stud Principal, Sharon Harms, was overjoyed with the success of Oakmore Wanita when she was judged best in the FarmFest’s Fantastic Female  section.

“The competition was highly contested and Oakmore Wanita had to first win the Tropical section of the competition before going up against the European and British breeds before then  being judged the overall winner,” Sharon said.

The judges remarked that what really won their hearts  over with Oakmore Wanita was  that  they were most impressed by her structural soundness.

As testament to the  overall quality of their cattle the Harms also had the second place getter in the Tropical section with Oakmore Krystal.

Sharon and Greg Harms have contested the FarmFest event for a number of years, with this year being their best result.

Therefore it was doubly rewarding as their Greenmount property celebrates twenty years as a registered Droughtmaster Stud.

Further success at the FarmFest event came  when Oakmore Wanita was led by Drew Weller, who  took out the Champion Junior Parader leading Wanita in the 16-19yrs age group then Drew went on to win the Grand Champion Parader.

A great result for a young man in the cattle industry.

Drew who, works at the Oakmore Stud, is also a local, coming from Ramsay.

Sharon and Greg’s success at FarmFest comes after also being highly placed at Beef Week in Rockhampton this year so they have good reason to celebrate their success with breeding  Droughtmaster cattle on their Greenmount stud.
