The service attracted one of the best ever attendances with strong support from across the district stretching from Cambooya through to Nobby and east to the Great Divide.

A highlight of this year’s commemoration was the guest speaker, Captain Candice Priebbenow, who is a native of the district, having been born in Toowoomba, living at Greenmount, attending Emu Creek State School as a primary student and Clifton State High for her secondary education.

In addition to delivering a thought-provoking address, Capt. Priebbenow participated in the traditional Passing of the Torch to the next generation.

Of the Gallipoli landing by the original Anzacs, she said, “Their contact that day has made them immortal.”
