Great weekend of Polo

Another fine weekend in Clifton was welcome for the annual running of The Silvershop Bracelet Carnival.

Twelve teams competed in the A, B and C grades. 

After another terrific A grade final, the Downs Hooper Accountants team of Kate Porteous, Leah Freney, Damian Allport and team captain Glen Gilmore ran out winners over Downs Raff lead by Stuart Hoey. 

Both Glen and Stuart started their careers on the Downs and progressed to play in many countries around the world, both captaining their country at different stages.

B Grade was won by Downs Webster Cavanagh team of Daniel Gilshenan, Hayden O’Leary, Max O’Leary and Glen Gilmore.

C Grade winner was  Riverlands, made up of Billy Murfett, Paul MacGinley, Al Cochrane and Luke O’Leary.

The A grade pony prize was awarded to Damian Allport’s Cornetto and B Grade pony was awarded to Glen Gilmore’s Chase.

This weekend at Clifton the Downs Polo Club will host the Sapphire Shield sponsored by Hugh Fisher and family. 

 A bar and catering will be available with all welcome.
