Grants boost community groups
Funding from the Australian Government’s Culture, Heritage and Arts Regional Tourism (CHART) program will help out both History Pittsworth and Pittsworth Art Group.
History Pittsworth has received $1,662 to purchase a new laptop to put all of the group’s resources in a catalogue, making it easier to access items.
Secretary of History Pittsworth, Gail Parish said History Pittsworth has been using two second hand laptops that council had given them many years ago.
“Our computers are that old that nothing works properly,” Mrs Parish said.
She said the $1,662 corresponds to a quote that Matt’s Computers had given for a new laptop that will suit the group’s needs.
“It will be well used,” she said.
On behalf of History Pittsworth, Mrs Parish said she would like to thank CHART very much.
“We don’t have all that much money as we’re all volunteers,” she said.
A $3,000 grant for Pittsworth Art Group will go towards public seating for its gallery, a new desk and a secure filing cabinet.
The group felt the gallery does not have public seating for visitors to rest and contemplate the art on display.
With seating, the possibility that the public will purchase members’ work increases.
The demographic of visitors suggests moveable ‘tub chairs’ in black leatherette would be suitable.
Pittsworth Art Group requested the secure filing cabinet for the efficient security of documents.
The two grants were part of more than $135,000 BATCH 1 grants across 50 organisations Australia-wide supporting activities that encourage cultural tourism in regional, rural and remote Australia.
BATCH 2 of funding has closed and successful applicants should be announced soon.

Applications are still open for CHART funding.
The CHART program is administered by the Australian Museums and Galleries Association.
The intended outcomes of CHART program grants are to:
Contribute to the reactivation and recovery of organisations from COVID-19, and to their ongoing sustainability, by providing grants for eligible activities
Promote regional arts and cultural tourism by supporting the development of appealing cultural tourism experiences, including through the preservation of Australia’s cultural heritage and the telling of the stories of local communities and
Support domestic intra- and inter-state tourism and local economies more broadly.
Submissions close when funding has been expended or 5pm on 29 April, whichever comes first.
All activities funded by the CHART program must be delivered and acquitted by 30 June 2022.
