Grace and pace from Pittsworth netballers
Pittsworth Tigers had a tough game losing their second game of the season to Saints (16-12).
Each of the girls played so well, with Sophie stepping out of her comfort zone of C to play an unstoppable GK, Ari utilising her versatility on the court working with Georgia and Isabelle to move the ball gracefully down the court and into the shooting circle, Allie and Olivia continuing to get intercepts and rebounds from the defending circle, while Sharlotte and Eliza were putting up shots and moving really well around the shooting circle.
Pittsworth Bobcats took on Saints, beginning strongly in what we expected would be a tight match.
Chelsea put us on the front foot with an intercept on the opening centre pass. Ruby played with great awareness dominating front position and selecting great passing options.
Sienna had to work extra hard for leads, but gradually worked out her opponent. We scored five goals in the first quarter, but struggled for any in the second – tall defence making shots difficult, despite perfect position.
Emma and Kyanna kept us in the game with pretty to watch agility, for well-timed intercepts.
Emma was outstanding, on three occasions, defending 2 v. 1 in the circle and creating the turnover!
Felicity used terrific speed to find space and link with Chelsea, providing excellent passing options.
Georgia also found space easily and joined Chelsea in delivering good ball to the shooters.
Isla joined Ruby in the circle for the second half, combining beautifully. Isla’s height left her less bothered by the defence and goals began to flow again.
Bobcats walked away 16-5 winners.
Pittsworth Cheetahs took on Fairholme Navy with the help of Eden, Hamarnee and Luci who slotted beautifully into the side in their respective roles.
Mikealee was electric in centre always a step or two ahead of her opponent.
Harper also played a strong centre quarter, running hard into spaces and receiving on the fly.
Aimee and Keira’s combination in the shooting circle built throughout the game, with some impressive passing sequences in the second half. Keira was on fire – her shooting accuracy at 80 per cent and icing passes to Aimee, who was hard on the drive and under the post.
Sally and Renee teamed up in the defensive circle. Sally used terrific front on defence to hold her player wide and timed tips to perfection. Renee was brilliant, keeping her player under pressure the entire game with many tips, intercepts and rebounds.
Cheetahs finished in front 35-18.
Pittsworth Pumas played Downlands this weekend and gave 100 per cent as usual.
Ella had her best game of the season driving forward and reading the game to follow the ball and be in just the right place.
Georgie learnt that sometimes it’s not a non contact sport but got back up and fought on.
Rylee and Lucy have been a great combination all season and Lucy is really reading the game well.
Emily and Jasmine are another unstoppable team, jumping for rebounds and intercepts.
Tamsyn drives down the line every time to help.
