Goomburra Town Hall Gets a Boost – and Battles a Bug

Thanks to the generous support of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund and Allora Scope, the Goomburra Town Hall Committee is thrilled to announce progress on installing a much-needed disabled toilet at the hall.

As with many building projects, plans have evolved along the way.

The addition of a new toilet has meant a complete septic system upgrade – but with any luck, everything will be up and running (and flushing!) by the end of April.

This upgrade also supports the community’s Goomburra and District Disaster Management Plan, which was developed in partnership with the Southern Downs Regional Council and local residents.

Unfortunately, it’s not all good news – termites have been found in the hall. One round of treatment has been completed, but more work is needed, and that means extra fundraising.

To help out, a cake stall and sausage sizzle will be held on voting day – Saturday, 3 May, from 8 am to 12 noon.

So once you’ve cast your vote, swing by the GTH shed for a cuppa, a bite to eat, and a yarn with the locals.
