The weekend of the 27th and 28th August saw the Allora Pony Club host our annual Working Horse Draft on the Saturday and Gymkhana on the Sunday.

The Pony Club is grateful for the help of the Allora Show Society in preparing the grounds and organising the canteen for the weekend.

Thanks must also go to the Days for Girls group who worked in the canteen.

Saturday saw over 160 draft runs for the day and without the support of our cattle donors the day would not have been possible. With the price of cattle this is a considerable contribution to our event.

The cattle were carted to and from the ground by Noel Veal Transport and O’Dempsey Transport.

Congratulations to Ashton Collins and Caity McMahon members of the Allora Pony Club who both had a successful day taking home trophies for their respective age groups and to Ashton on his win in the Jackpot.

Thank you to our judges for the day Dave Dwan and Errol Cooper and to everyone that lent a day through out the day.

These events run solely on volunteer workers.

A beautiful pre-spring day on Sunday saw 82 riders compete in the gymkhana.

The March Past was won by the Cambooya Pony Club, who continued on their winning way for the day taking out the trophy for the club gaining Highest Points.

Tilly Hanson won the trophy for most points by an Allora Pony Club member not receiving an age group trophy.

Congratulations to the club’s youngest member Max Pointon who competed in the Led Age Group and Casey Byrne who competed at her first gymkhana.

The Allora Pony Club is very grateful for the businesses, community groups and families that supported our weekend by donating product and sponsoring the events.

Thank you to the competitors that came and supported the event and helped where they could.

There were riders from 21 different Pony Clubs compete over the weekend, with riders travelling from Mt Mee, Blackbutt, Kumbia, Dalby, Fassifern, Laidley, Goondiwindi and in between.

A big thank you also goes out to past members that find the time to come back and help the club.
