Golf Club completes tee-rific renovations
The Pittsworth Golf Club has had a facelift after renovations to the interior of the club house totalling more than $23,000 were completed in May, placing the venue among the top in the town for events and functions.

The renovations, which included new flooring, a fresh coat of paint and new lighting, were partially funded by the Toowoomba Regional Council as the club received $7022.73 last month as part of the 2020/21 round of the Community Grants Program Funding.
President of the Pittsworth Golf Club Shane Smith said the initial plan was to just lay vinyl flooring in the bar area and in part of the club house but they decided to go the extra mile.
“We got a grant from the Council to do some of the flooring but we decided that we wanted to go a bit further, so we actually refurbished the whole club house all the way through and it’s come up really well,” Mr Smith said.
“The grant was for just over $7000 and we spent just over $23,000 so the remaining amount we contributed ourselves.
“By obtaining a partial grant through the Toowoomba Regional Council, we were able to put into motion this refurbishment.”
The whole renovation was done in just five days and was completed last Friday thanks to the help of approximately 15 volunteers.
“It is a credit to the volunteers at our club that we were able to achieve a far greater outcome than first expected,” Mr Smith said.
“We want to thank our volunteers because everything other than the flooring was done by them, so all the painting and cleaning and everything else.”
Mr Smith said these renovations came after they completed some upgrades several years ago.
“Four years ago we had a grant to renovate the kitchen so we did that to get it all up to the correct standards and this was the next step,” Mr Smith said.
But the club is not done yet as it still has some more extensive renovations planned for sometime in the future.
“There’s a little bit more we want to do around the bar area and the older area of the club house, so our next project is to renovate that part of the building,” Mr Smith said.
“That will give us a separate room that people can have functions in if they don’t want to be in this big room.
“They could go out to that room and have a private function or meeting or classes.”
Mr Smith said the modernised venue is now open for people to hire out for functions and events.
“It’s not just a golf club, it’s a community centre that everyone can use if they want to,” he said.
“Our goal during this project was to improve the facilities for our members and visitors but also to improve our offer for locals looking to hold functions in Pittsworth.
“The new look is very appealing to the eye and would make the ideal reception area for weddings, birthdays or engagement parties.”
