Gambling Community Benefit Fund delivers big

The Oakey Historical Museum and Goombungee-Haden Show Society are among those to benefit from the latest round of Gambling Community Benefit Fund grants.

Oakey Historical Museum received $60,473.67 for upgrades to its facility.

Museum Secretary/Treasurer Fay Telford said the Museum had already been in contact with the building contractors.

“The building work which includes two ramps and one walkway is being supplied by Gullyview Carpentry from Goombungee and the completion of driveway around the inside of the Museum will be completed by Oakey Sand and Gravel Pty Ltd,” she said.

The Goombungee-Haden Show Society received $52,316.80 to construct a new cattle shed.

Goombungee-Haden Show Society President Errol Luck said work would start on construction of the shed in the New Year following the Rodeo.

Mr Luck said the upgrade from the existing facility was well overdue and would assist with Show events and ag education workshops.

In other Goombungee-Haden Show Society news, Secretary Kylie Welke said  there will be fundraising events coming up for the 2025 Showgirl applicants.

Finally, the Biddeston Hall Committee will receive $5,265.60 to purchase some new trolleys for the Hall’s kitchen area.
