Andrew Langton stepped down from role of President  after two years in charge, but said he will still be an active member.

Vice President Dave Cooper was nominated by Mr Langton and accepted the position.

Mr Cooper said he’s looking forward to the year ahead.

“I’m looking forward to putting my touches on the role and being a voice for the community and helping out where we can with
the information trail,” he said.

“We are constantly talking with Council to help new investors in town get supported, and for any new developments.”

Mr Cooper said he plans for the Chamber to be at the forefront of new developments in town.

“We are a conduit between Council, State Government, Federal Government,” Mr Cooper said.

“We have supported local events like the PCYC Eat Street, Santa Fair, Carnival of Flowers Float.

“The Chamber had a lot to do with Council’s planning of the new Oakey Streetscape.

“The Council were using us as a feedback line, for what we thought was going to work and what wasn’t.”

In other position changes, Pastor Lloyd Gill of Grace Community Church is the new Vice President, while St. Monica’s Primary School teacher aide Carmel Cooper was nominated and accepted the role of Secretary, replacing Danielle Langton.

The Long-time Treasurer, former ANZ Bank manager Betty Richter, will stay in the position for another year.

Oakey Chamber of Commerce meetings are on the second Tuesday night each month at 5.30pm at the R.S.L. Community members are welcome to attend.
