Flyers fill their need for speed

TARMAC (Toowoomba Amateur Model Radio Aero Club) hosted the Queensland Turbine Flyers for a spectacular weekend of high-powered turbine action.

After travelling to Willowbank for Powercruise last week, Ross and Ashton Page from Helidon and Cooper and Stephen Porter from Bundaberg joined the Queensland Turbine Flyers at Hodgson Vale where they put this Eurofighter into the air.

The event brought together some of the most skilled jet pilots from across the region, showcasing an impressive array of turbine-powered aircraft and precision flying.

From start to finish, the weekend was filled with thrilling displays, technical excellence, and camaraderie among pilots and spectators alike.

The sound of jet turbines roaring to life and streaking across the sky was a true spectacle, drawing admiration from all who attended, including quite a few local spectators.

The pilots demonstrated incredible skill, executing high-speed passes, graceful aerobatics, and smooth landings with their meticulously crafted models.

The variety of aircraft on display ranged from sleek sport jets to detailed scale military replicas, each one a testament to the passion and dedication of their owners.

TARMAC publicity officer John Bowden said the event also served as an excellent opportunity to introduce newcomers to the world of radio controlled jet flying, inspiring the next generation of enthusiasts.

Mr Bowden said TARMAC extends a heartfelt thank you to the Queensland Turbine Flyers for making the event such a success.

“We also thank the many visitors who joined us over the weekend and we trust that you enjoyed the spectacle as much as we did,” he said.

“Looking ahead, we are excited to host Warbirds Over Toowoomba on April 5 and 6, where a stunning array of military models from past and present will take to the skies.”

As was the case last weekend, the Warbirds Over Toowoomba event will be open to members of the public.

It is expected that there will be a good roll up of participants with a range of aircraft.

As the TARMAC field at Hodgson Vale has toilet and shower facilities, it is anticipated that pilots bringing their aircraft from other areas will take the opportunity to camp on site overnight.
