First single for West Haldon artist

Talented local singer and songwriter Lee ann Weekes has released her first single and it has already brought her some success.

Lee ann lives at West Haldon and her first single, Don’t Talk to Strangers is a song she wrote paying tribute to the beauty of her aunt’s unconditional love for her husband (Lee ann’s uncle), who courageously battled the effects of dementia before his passing in 2022.

“I was stoked when it made the Top 30 Shortlist for Ballads in the recent Australian Songwriters Association Awards, prompting me to put it on Apple Music, YouTube and Spotify,” Lee ann said.

She will be will be sharing this with some of her other songs as the local support act for the Small Halls Concert being held at Pilton on Sunday week.

Lee ann’s songwriting ability has not gone unnoticed, as she has seen numerous compositions earn coveted spots on the shortlist of the Australian Songwriter Association.

She grew up in outback Queensland and her musical journey is rooted in the rich traditions of folk and country music.

Her music is a genuine and evocative portrayal of Australian life, spun with love, authenticity, and a deep connection to the land she calls home.
