First look at planned bypass route

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) has released the planned location of the proposed Toowoomba North South Transport Corridor, which will direct traffic away from the New England Highway through Toowoomba.

Starting on the New England Highway at Cambooya, planning for the new transport corridor shows its following Drayton Connection Road through Vale View.

After the intersection with Newman Road and Luck Road, a new road will be constructed that travels north-west to the Gore Highway/Toowoomba Athol Road west of Westbrook, roughly near the junction with Blackwell Road.

From there, the road will travel north towards Wellcamp and Charlton, where it connects with the Warrego Highway and the existing Toowoomba Bypass and then reconnecting to the New England Highway north of Highfields.

The proposed transport corridor also includes a road connecting to the southern portion of Highfields.

Have your say

TMR is now undertaking community consultation regarding confirming the location and protection of the future transport corridor.

The Department said all feedback will be considered and will inform current planning and determine if corridor protection should proceed.

It is important to note that potentially affected landowners will have the opportunity to provide site specific feedback about how the future state transport corridor will affect their property, business and amenity. This is planned to occur soon.

Feedback for the interactive map and online survey closes on 11 August 2023.

The quick poll and feedback walls will remain open until late 2023 for ongoing feedback to be provided.
