Fatal crash at East Greenmount
A truck driver has died after rolling a truck on the New England Highway in East Greenmount today.
The incident occurred just before 10am today, 30 August, between Falknau Road and Allens Road.
The vehicle rolled over on its top, spanning the width of the road, trapping the driver within the vehicle.
In the immediate aftermath of the crash, some of the first motorists to come to the scene attempted to free the driver from the vehicle, and after no success, provided emotional support for the driver.
The driver ultimately passed away before he could be freed from the vehicle.
Before police arrived, a member of the public assisted in directing traffic away from the site of the incident on the southern side.
There were numerous Queensland Police Service, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services and Queensland Ambulance Service crews on the scene, as well as a LifeFlight rescue helicopter.
If possible, motorists should avoid the New England Highway in East Greenmount as both lanes of the road are closed to traffic for an unknown length of time.
Police are directing traffic through an alternate route via Greenmount Eton Vale Road and Greenmount Clifton Road.
