Exhibition transforms Clifton Library
Over the next few weeks, Clifton Library Art Space is hosting the 3Ps: The Painter, The Photographer and Pattern Maker Art & Textile Show that showcases local artists through a variety of mediums.
The exhibition showcases a photograph alongside a re-creation of it in the form of a painting or pattern making artwork.
Pattern making artwork incorporates styles and techniques such as 3D art, paper maché and sewing.
The genesis of the concept came from an interaction between photographer Jim Argent and painter Kerry Chant.
Mrs Chant said she was inspired after seeing some photographs that Mr Argent had taken in Berrinba Wetlands at Logan in Brisbane’s south.
“Jim showed me some photos and I said I’ve got to paint some of those,” Mrs Chant said.
After discussing the idea with other local artists at their weekly Monday morning coffee catch-up, the 3Ps concept was born.
The expertise of other artists in pattern making saw the inclusion of their skills in the endeavour.
The librarian at Clifton Library, Bernadette Trimingham, is thrilled that locals are making use of the art space is the library.
“It’s great that community organisations use the space,” she said.
Mrs Trimingham was hopeful that the success of the exhibition would lead to more people using the art space and visiting the library.
The 3Ps exhibit opened on Wednesday 5 May and will conclude on Wednesday 26 May.
The exhibition will be open to the public on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday from 10am to 1pm and from 2pm to 4pm.
All of the photographs, paintings and 3D art is for sale with all proceeds going to the artist.
