Known in Oakey as ‘Granny’ rather than her birthname Esme, Mrs Dorries has said that she believes the secret to her long life is eating an avocado a day.

Raised in Nanango, Mrs Dorries moved to several townships before settling in Oakey with her last husband Alf Dorries.

She then moved to CWA House where she has been a resident for many years.

Proud of her life as a mother and home-maker, Mrs Dorries is the mother of six children and can boast countless grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
