Ellangowan clearing sale draws a good crowd
Buyers were thick on the ground at the Bray Farms clearance auction on Friday 14th April, as every conceivable item from a ten dollar car part to $300,000 crop sprayers were offered to buyers by the Ray White auctioneers.
Ray White’s Rob Caton said the sale went well with a clearance rate of 95 per cent with tractors, old and new, selling for good prices.
Mr Caton said he thought prices for top end machinery were erratic, with a Crop Sprayer topping the sale at just over $300,000.
Buyers realised that buying expensive hard-to-get machinery at the sale was a way of avoiding long waiting times for imported machines.
The 213 registered bidders had a huge range of items to choose, from the proverbial kitchen sink to pumps, generators, bull bars and every piece of farm machinery imaginable.
The full to capacity car park told the story that people had come to buy as utes and four vehicle drives most often had trailers attached ready to cart home their successful buys.
Many of the top end machinery looked to be in A1 condition with loaders, trucks, excavators, haymaking and grain handling machinery in prime showroom condition.
The Back Plains State School P&C Association did the catering and which was well received by the people in attendance.
Although online auctions are becoming more popular, in-person clearing sales still manage to draw quite a crowd.
