Early Childcare Centre takes out Darling Downs Award
Oakey local Tricia Brownsey’s Bottletree Family Daycare won the Family Day Care Award at the inaugural Toowoomba Early Childhood Awards Gala Evening.
The business is run under the auspices of the Kath Dickson Family Centre in Toowoomba and operates out of Mrs Brownsey’s home in Oakey.
In a speech to representatives from childcare centres across Toowoomba and the Darling Downs, Mrs Brownsey credited her success to a number of factors and practices she was undertaking.
“I’ve been a family day care educator for just over 6 years and have
grown so much as an educator and as a person in that time,” she said.
“This growth comes from connecting to passionate early childhood educators and professionals, connecting to my aboriginal heritage and local community, learning from country, my passion for sustainable practices, support and relationship building with families and the continuous support from my scheme – Kath Dickson Family Day Care and in particular Miranda (my wonderful coordinator), thank you.
“Most of all my growth has come from all the children I’ve had the privilege of walking through my door every morning,” Mrs Brownsey said.
“These children are beautifully spirited and are all going to do amazing things in their future, and I couldn’t be more excited to have played a part in their life journey.”
“A very special thank you goes to my own family.
“I have two beautiful inspiring daughters who are the reason ‘why’ I started a family day care business.
“My husband is my rock, thank you Nigel for your 100 per cent support – I have taken over the house and yard and yet you are still my biggest supporter.”
Alongside the Award, Mrs Brownsey has also been nominated for the Family Day Care Awards in the Educator Category.
She will be going up against some stiff competition, with hundreds of nominees from across Queensland.
