It was another tough result on the day with a 6-1 defeat to USQ FC and two send-offs to Oakey players the main takeaways from the match itself.

On the table, Oakey finished sixth out of the six top divisions, narrolwly behind the USQ FC  TN team on for and against.

Coach Tony James said a positive start to the season was disrupted by the withdrawal of one team from the competition, and his team's issues dealing with the cooling weather and road games. Discipline was also an issue at times.

Assistant coach David Laybutt addressed the team after their final game saying he was proud of their efforts.

"Thank you very much," he said.

"We went down fighting.

"Thank you to Katie and Dave for coming along.

"Also to Konan for stepping up - it can't have been easy."

Getting onto the pitch has been a triumph in itself for the Oakey team which is represented by many employees from the local meatworks.

A spokesperson for the club said while there was no formal relegation in the Darling Downs competition, it was likely the club would be entered in Division 2 the following season.

In other news, the women's social soccer teams have been booming with an increase in player numbers resulting in the creation of a second team.

Meanwhile, Oakey Soccer Club's Mini Carnival is coming up later this month, with clubs from across Southern Queensland expected to converge on the Federal Sporting Fields.
