Drought Community Outreach Event At Allora Well Attended
The Natonal Recovery and Resilience Agency (NRRA) recently hosted a Drought Community Outreach at the Allora Community Hall, providing primary producers with an opportunity to see what resources are available to them.
The event was delivered in partnership with Rotary Australia. There were many ser-vice providers, including government departments and charities, who had stalls there on the day.
NRRA Recovery Support Offi cer for South West Queensland Bryson Head said the event in Allora had gone well, as had events earlier this week in Surat, Meandarra, Millmerran and Pittsworth.
Around eighty people attended in Allora, making it one of the more successful events. The event, which ran from 7.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m., saw quite a few people pop in after dropping their kids off at school to see how they could be helped out.
Advice was handed out on things such as the Farm Household Allowance, the On-Farm Emergency Water Infrastructure Rebate Scheme and how to best monitor mental health when times are tough.
The government stalls included NRRA, Queens-land Rural and Industry Development Authority, RHealth, Services Australia (Centrelink/Medicare), Rural Financial Counselling Service, Tackling Regional Adversity through Integrated Care, Northern Australia Climate Program and the Darling Downs Health Disaster Mental Health Recovery Team.
Charities there on the day included Rotary Australia, Catholic Care, Rural Aid and Southern Queensland Landscapes and Lives Lived Well. Attendees came away with good, solid information plus a few goodies in their tote bags.
