Downs Polo to start in April
The Downs Polo Club will start season 2022 with the revival of the Eagers Shield Downs Fixtures first played in 1958.

For interest’s sake the winning team of that year was West Haldon Whites.
Team members were Dave MacGinley, Joe MacGinley, Herb Cook, Pat O’Sullivan and Hoey Cook.
This year the Shield will be contested over the two weekends of the 2nd and 3rd April and the 9th and 10th April.
This is a tournament that has a history of being hard fought and difficult to win.
A number of the players who started their careers on the Downs have progressed to playing in many countries all over the world with some of the families playing into their third and fourth generations.
After this the club will run the following events:
Downs Low Goal, 23rd and 24th April
Downs Shield Annual Tournament 4th and 5th June
Cooke O’Leary 16th and 17th July
Silvershop 23rd and 24th July
Sapphire Shield 30th and 31st July
The Club would like to invite any past players, spectators, potential players and any other interested people to come along and join them.
Catering will be available all weekends.
Downs Polo events are played at the Clifton Recreation Grounds.
